Steve Nash was inducted into the Suns Ring Of Honor last night and he had many former Suns greats to welcome him. Charles Barkley, Dan Majerle, Tom Chambers, former coach Mike D’Antoni and many more were on hand to see one of the best point guards ever get his due from the team he did the most for.

“This doesn’t feel real right now,” Nash said after Talking Stick Resort Arena’s soldout crowd stood and roared like it never has since the last time he took the floor as a Sun. “I’ve got a couple things to admit: I didn’t prepare a speech and they gave me a lot of drinks.”

“I guess part of the reason why I didn’t write a speech is because I feel like I’m in my living room right now. So I felt like it might be a bit contrived to write something that couldn’t quite express how I feel, so I thought it would be good to just put myself on the spot and try to say the right thing.”

Nash went on to give a sprawling, heartfelt speech, which helped extend the halftime ceremony to nearly 40 minutes, at which point arena personnel eventually had to cut Nash off mid-speech, Academy-Awards-style, by dimming the lights and playing him off the stage with orchestra music.

Nash is a sure first ballot hall of famer soon as he is eligible in another few years.
