IFWT Kevin McHale

The Houston Rockets were expected to come out firing this year.  Last season they dealt with numerous injuries but still finished with the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference on the back of their star guard James Harden.  Now with most of the team healthy, and the chip on Harden’s shoulder, it was assumed they would be one of the best teams in the West.  Instead they’re currently 4-7 with the 11th spot in the Western Conference which pushed the need for a change.

According to NBA Insider for Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets have fired head coach Kevin McHale.  J.B. Bickerstaff, will become interim head coach and assistant Chris Finch will become associate head coach.

It was reportedly a grueling decision for the Rockets, who extended McHale year ago and think the world of him as a man.  Houston’s 4-7 start demanded change to right season; Bickerstaff will be charged with restoring defensive mindset that he installed year ago.  Houston has tremendous talent, needs to salvage season. That pushed Rockets to make move sooner than later on parting ways with McHale.
