Earlier this week, Lebron called out his teammates after a loss to the Pistons where he questioned the hunger his teammates had. He said the Cavs are “too nice” and compared them to the team who beat them in the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors. When Bron mentioned them he was basically giving the praise but Steph still managed to throw a jab at the King and his mates.

After the loss in Detroit, Bron said “We haven’t done anything”. “We didn’t win anything. We lost. We lost in the Finals. So that’s enough motivation for myself. I think we need to understand that. Like, we lost in the Finals. We didn’t win. And the team that beat us looks more hungry than we are. So it shouldn’t be that way.”

As you can see, he basically gave the Warriors respect for still being the hungrier team even though they actually won the title. Steph Curry heard the comments and had his own reply.

“Yeah, I did (hear James’ comment),” Curry told USA TODAY Sports as the undefeated Warriors (12-0) prepared to face the Clippers at the Staples Center Thursday night. “I mean he’s motivating his team however he needs to. But he’s not in our locker room, so he doesn’t know kind of what’s going on. You can look at our record and make that (assumption about the Warriors being hungry). It’s probably pretty self-explanatory that we’re hungry.”

Curry is feeling cocky these days and you can hear it in his responses. “Because we want to be great,” he said. “I don’t think great teams take nights off. I don’t think great teams really coast through parts of the schedule just because you feel like you have the talent to do it. That cheats the process, and I think we have guys who understand (that). That last part was definitely a shot towards the Cavs, who have been accused last year and this year of having players take nights off or not put forth their best. You know Lebron can’t wait to face them with a fully healthy team because I don’t care what anyone says, Lebron was the best player in the NBA Finals and the Cavs were a better overall team if they had both Kyrie and Kevin Love available.
