#IJS: This is a list that I can be proud of. One that I can not argue with.
I love that they’re doing a black power issue, but tbh it’s hard to see the black power when the three people presented on the cover are all light-skinned. I have no issue with the three people on the cover and recognize what they have all said and done for the black community, but this cover just shows that colorism is alive and well. There are lightskinned, darkskinned, and every shade in the middle activists. This cover should have been way more diverse. I know I’ll probably hear that they speak to people of every shade in the magazine, but people knows that while you shouldn’t, everyone judges a book by its cover.
