After years of trying to get the Tupac biopic off the ground, Morgan Creek Flims may have finally found itself a new director. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Benny Boom is in negotiations to become the director of the Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me.

Benny Boom, who has previously directed feature films like Next Day Air and S.W.A.T. Firefight, will be replacing Carl Franklin and John Singleton who both backed out of the film.

Boom was also the recipient of the “Video Director of the Year” award at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards. He has also director music videos for artists such as 50 Cent, Nas, Jeezy, Trey Songz, B.o.B, Future and YG.

Production is expected to begin this month in Georgia, however if it is not begun by the end of this year, the rights to the Tupac’s music will be returned to his mother, Afeni Shakur.
