Seems like Lee Daniels is so busy calling on celebrities for guest appearances on Empire to pay-up his dues to SAG-AFTRA, guild representation of actors, announcers, broadcast journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, and other media professionals.

According to the complaint filed by the SAG-AFTRA, Daniels made Shadowboxer, which starred Cuba Gooding Jr., Helen Mirren and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. When the film was all said and done, fees were not distributed, and after a 2011 arbitration decision for Daniels to pay the funds to the tune of $355,000-$169,630 in residuals, $93,544 in late payments, $25,323 in pension and health contributions, according to The Hollywood Reporter-the Precious director still had not forked over the funds. SAG-AFTRA continues to take other outlets for the payout.

The guild filed the recent complaint with the courts, however, the courts were unable to reach Daniels due to a disconnected telephone number.

The SAG-AFTRA released the following statement on the arbitration:

Subsequent to the issuance of the [2011 arbitration] award, SAG-AFTRA served a notice of assignment to attach revenue generated by the distribution of the film. While we were able to recover a modest amount of the debt over the last few years, we determined that foreclosure on the film would yield the best result for the cast and therefore sought to confirm the award and move forward with a foreclosure sale at this time. We remain ready to resolve this dispute amicably.”
