Is it a bad time for R&B right now? As rap albums like DS2, What A Time To Be Alive, Fetty Wap’s debut and more have done great numbers in 2015, Ty Dolla $ign’s Free TC and Jeremih’s Late Nights didn’t fare so well, and it doesn’t look like August Alsina or R. Kelly will either. What gives?

Early sales forecasts have August Alsina moving 35-40k units of his sophomore effort This Thing Called Life, which pales in comparison to the 67k his debut did in 2014. R. Kelly’s The Buffet sees the same story, as it’s on pace for 32-37k, while his 2013 release did 133k. The final numbers will be in this weekend, but they’re not going to move too far from the estimates. Sheesh!
