Hover boards have taken the world by storm in 2015. It seems as if almost everyone has one and those who don’t have one just have to to get their hands on the hands free scooter. Although hover boards seem cool they are also very dangerous. People have been falling off of them and getting seriously injured and they have been reported to catch on fire. That’s crazy! Now there are new laws pertaining to the hands free scooter device and if you got one for Christmas and you’re under 16 years old you might want to return it for something else. Check out the rest of the story after the jump.

Hover boards are all the rage and everyone wants one. They are cool and fun but they are also very dangerous. If you don’t know what a hover board is it’s evident that you have been living under a rock for the past few months. Literally every little kid and even adult’s want one of those things but there are new laws that are being put into effect starting January 1, 2016. You have to be 16 years old or older to ride one. You must wear a helmet at all times while riding the hands free scooter. You can’t use hover boards on roadways, trails or sidewalks but scooter riders will be allowed to use bike lanes and pathways, mostly. Also, riders can use highways which allow travel speed maximums of 35 miles per hour. I’m not sure if I or anyone else would want to ride that thing on a highway.
I’m positive that kids who got a hover board for Christmas will be livid that they can’t ride it. I personally think they are dangerous and I trip over my own feet so i can only imagine what would happen if i dared to stand on one of those things. Comment below and tell us what you think.

All I have to say … You don’t have to be 16 to ride a skateboard do you? Something you don’t use your hands for … If the parents are willing to buy there kids a hover board they’re willing to put their kid at the risk . It should be up to the parents if they think their kids are mature to ride a hover board
I will love a hoverboard but they say they can catch on fire
Thousands have been catching on fire that amazon is already in the process of giving 100% money back or a new one cuz they are getting so many complaints etc. Look up the site about amazon and swag ways.
That is a lies it is only the ones that are not $400 trust md I have one and it has not blew up yet!!!!!!
I agree. I mean come on. There was a 11 year old boy on XGames skating a damn mega ramp. But yet you gotta be 16 to ride one of these. It’s just pathetic.
I think this law is actually good because there have been many reports about them catching fire and exploding. Before this law pilots and people that worked at shipping companies wouldn’t let people deliver these hoverboards because they were afraid that they would catch fire on the plane.
How exactly do you think this law has anything to do with catching fire? Neither adulthood nor a helmet is going to prevent it from catching fire.
this is a good law in my opinion
Don’t agree with this law about a helmet I’m grown and don’t feel like that is needed u can fall off of a bike but u don’t have to wear a helmet on one by law so what’s the difference
You should then come to my job and speak to my head trauma patients who they thought they were grown too. From ages 15 to over 80. Accidents do not have discrimination…do what you want. But if it’s the law…must abide babe’s. Sorry.
I was in the mall one day and almost run over by a person riding one of these proposterous things named a hover board which is really a swag way. I work in a rehabilitation hospital and two most important things I have found is one. We rehab people to walk again and this machinery takes away from kids using their legs and walking. Two I have seen so many people falling off of these things praying that they are not the next person to come in with brain or spinal cord injury. I’m not that old school but at least with a skateboard you use muscles. Please be careful wear a helmet and do not ride these things in places like malls where you can knock someone down like a child or elder.
i think this is pathetic because as you have all seen most of these accidents happen to adults and rarely children because of wieght soo no need for this crap
That’s complete bullshit
I don’t believe that is true. The hover boreds have only been around for a little bit so who ever made up this rule you guys are so wrong I am keeping my hover bored and im only 13
