Lucas claimed that he used an “inappropriate analogy” towards Disney. Charlie Rose did not follow up on the statement Lucas made which made it very unclear as to what Lucas meant. Ofcouse Lucas experienced a series of backlash from the comment. Lucas released a statement about his comment stating,

“I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directions.”

Lucas sold his company Lucasfilm to Disney back in 2012 for $4.06 billion. They made “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Disney plans to release two more “Star Wars” movies within the next few years. Lucas talked to Charlie Rose about staying out of the Star Wars plans. He also talked about not agreeing with Disney’s retro, fan-centric approach to “The Force Awakens.”

In his statement released on Thursday, Lucas says

“I have been working with Disney for 40 years and chose them as the custodians of ‘Star Wars’ because of my great respect for the company and Bob Iger’s leadership. Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise.”
