Officer Anthony Barton met the couple as the father-to-be waved his hands for help. With the instruction from a fellow officer over the police radio, Barton reclined the seat so that mom could lay flat. After delivering the baby, Barton proceeded to wrap the baby in a blanket found in the car and removed all fluids from the infant’s mouth. EMTs arrived to cut the umbilical cord and transport the baby and mom to a nearby hospital. Both mom and the baby, named Josiah, are healthy and safe.
