The Lakers don’t have much to celebrate lately, like GM Mitch Kupchak said, this season is all about Kobe Bryant.  The franchise superstar is retiring after 20 seasons and has hit several milestones along the way.  During the Lakers 112-95 loss the Rockets, Kobe Bryant became the second all-time leader on an interesting list.

Kobe became the second all-time leader in career assists for the Lakers, passing his idol Jerry West.

It was an interesting feat for a player who’s most known for high volume shooting and reluctance to pass the ball.

“It means a lot,” Bryant said. “It’s an accomplishment I’m really really proud of.”

“You have to keep the defense honest,” said Bryant. “You’ve got to be able to make plays and make passes to have the defense fear you as a passer. If they don’t, you can’t score 40 points, you can’t score 50 points, because they can just load up on you. So you’ve got to be able to be feared as a passer.”

Magic Johnson tops the list with 10,141 asists , Kobe Bryant is second with 6,244 assists while Jerry West is third with 6,238 assists.
