As you know O.J. Simpson was found not guilty in the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. The case captured the nation not only because O.J. was a football hero and movie and TV star, but also because many people believed he had indeed committed the murders. Now 20 years later, the case is once again in the spotlight as FX created a new TV series called “The People vs. O.J. Simpson”. While many are intrigued about the drama, O.J. Simpson’s best friend fears the series will paint him in a bad light and is threatening to sue if it does.
Al Cowlings “despises the media” his rep tells TMZ, and he feels like he’s being targeted 20 years after the murders.
Cowlings is worried his character in the series — played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner — will be untrue and damaging to his reputation.
A porn star claimed shortly after the murders Al — known as AC — told her he got rid of the murder weapon, saying the knife “was sleeping with the fishes.” He denied saying it.
There was also a lot of unsubstantiated rumors that he cleaned up Simpson’s Rockingham house and 86ing Simpson’s bloody clothes.
Cowlings never said publicly if he believed Simpson committed the murders. He has said on occasion, “It’s none of your f****** business.”
Well if anything, he just helped promote the series.
