As most of us know Flint, MI is going though a serious water crisis right now. Many people all over are volunteering and giving generous donations to the the people of Flint. Celebrities such as Big Sean, Pusha T, Timbaland, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce have all been trying to make a difference and help the people of Flint in their time of need. But I would have to say the most incredible story that I have read up on is about a seven year old young boy, Isiah Britt, who decided that he wanted to help the children of Flint, MI by donating hand sanitizer so kids in local Flint schools can wash their hands. When Isiah Britt’s parents told him about the water crisis in Flint, MI the seven year old couldn’t believe what children his age had to deal with on a day to day basis because they didn’t have clean water. After hearing about the water crisis Isiah wanted to help make a difference, so he and his parents called Eisenhower Elementary School in Flint to ask what they could do.
“They already had a lot of water bottles. Eisenhower Elementary School asked us, ‘Is it okay if you get us hand sanitizer?’ And we said, ‘Sure.”
Isiah said.
Isiah’s parents said that the principal of Eisenhower told them that the students were afraid to wash their hands. So Danielle and Kensley, Isiah’s parents, helped their son create a GoFundMe page to raise money. Isiah’s proud parents say the first shipment of hand sanitizer arrived at Eisenhower last Friday.
The Virgina family didn’t stop there.
“So right now we have enough for all 12 schools out in Flint. Once that’s fulfilled, the next step is daycares or women’s shelters.”
said Isiah’s dad, Kensley.
Kids and parents in Flint are extremely grateful for Isiah’s help and big heart.
As for seven year old Isiah? He is just happy to help.
“That was the best day of my life; trying to help a different school. It doesn’t matter if you’re small, it doesn’t mean you can’t do big things.”
Isiah said.
