Despite being one of the most popular projects out right now, Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo is noticeably absent from this week’s Billboard Charts. Kanye released the album exclusively on TIDAL, telling fans in a recent Twitter rant, “My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal.”
This may have been a bad move on Ye’s part because not only has the album be pirated over 500,000 times, it will never chart on Billboard because of the streaming service. According to Billboard’s vice president of charts and data development Silvio Pietroluongo, TIDAL never released their stream counts. Pietroluongo explained,
“Billboard has been informed that TIDAL is not currently reporting streams for tracks on Kanye’s album to Nielsen Music. Therefore streams from Tidal for this title will not contribute to Billboard’s chart rankings at this time.”
As of now, it remains unclear if or at all, TIDAL will report The Life of Pablo‘s streaming numbers.
