Hesston, Kansas is now the crime scene of a shooting that has left multiple people dead. Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton says there are atleast four to five crime scenes around the area. Dispatchers say they responded to a shooting at the Excel Industries plant. The shooter, who was shot and killed was an ex worker at the plant. The man was identified as Cedric Ford.
There were two shootings at other places near the plant, and one at the plant.
Walton released a statement saying,
“This is just a horrible incident. There’s going to be a lot of sad people before this is all over.”
Walton says they do not want to release the number of people killed because they first want to identify them. He also says that the FBI and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation will be helping investigate the incident.
Martin Espinoza works at the plant Excel and was there at the time of the shooting. He says people were yelling and screaming telling each other to get out the building. He then heard popping and saw his ex co-worker Cedric Ford behind the gun. Espinoza says the man was pretty calm. He says the gunman pointed the gun at him but the gun was empty. As Ford went to grab another gun Espinoza ran. He said,
“I looked right at him and he looked right at me.”
Staff at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita told reporters that they have received six patients from Hesston.
There is a video out of Ford shooting a AK-47. His Facebook is also loaded with pictures of him with guns. May our hearts go out to the families of those lost and also those in critical condition.
