Women in Tech has become a real ‘hot button’ issue, the fact that Women in Tech account for a very low percentage of actual hires at the big companies, so when Microsoft hired some women to work an after party for the SF Game Developers conference you would think it was good, BUT….

They weren’t hired for their brains, they were hired to shake their a**es and look good, which they did, but the backlash from the women that actually work in the field were quite disturbed;

BUT Microsoft is a really smart company, they took action as quick as possible, and apologized for these actions;

This matter is being handled internally, but let me be very clear—how we represent ourselves as individuals, who we hire and partner with and how we engage with others is a direct reflection of our brand and what we stand for. When we do the opposite, and create an environment that alienates or offends any group, we justly deserve the criticism.

It’s unfortunate that such events could take place in a week where we worked so hard to engage the many different gaming communities in the exact opposite way. I am personally committed to ensuring that diversity and inclusion is central to our everyday business and our core values as a team—inside and outside the company. We need to hold ourselves to higher standards and we will do better in the future.

I totally understand the women in the industry being upset, the women in Tech I know are Dope AF and def deserve as much of the spotlight as any guy, if not more, but in this instance, the women hired may not brainiac’s, more than likely would not be dropping a resume at any tech company, but yet they do have bills to pay, possibly kids to take care of, and probably enjoyed being on that stage shaking their a** instead of a rowdy strip club with all types of uneducated hands all over them, I could be wrong but I’ve seen the alternative ?.

Oddly enough, a lot of the women I know/see in gaming(Not Dev side) do a lot of cos-play, which always ends up being something really ‘Sexy’ ?
