We first got word of a Netflix hip-hop show in February 2015. Well as we approach it’s release date, which iMDB is revealing will be August 12, more details are emerging like that of Nas being a “huge creative force” and Jaden Smith joining the cast.
Queens’ own Nasir Jones has also served as a co-producer on the Tyson documentary in 2008 and as an executive producer on the Shake The Dust documentary in 2014. Details on his exact role are undisclosed but according to “The Get Down” director and screenwriter, Baz Luhrmann, Nas played a very influential part in the series birth.
