Ever since Kevin Durant’s career began with the Seattle Supersonics back in 2007, his mother Wanda has been a fixture at his games. We started to notice her much more when the Sonics moved to OKC and became the Thunder but she really became famous in her own right after Kevin’s MVP speech in 2014, when he referred to his mom as “The Real MVP”. It made you want to call your own mother and let her know how much she has done for you and it was a moment in the world of sports we will never forget. Now KD’s words are being used as the title of a movie about his wonderful mother.

The film will be produced by Queen Latifah and will air on Lifetime this Saturday, May 7th at 8pm. You can be sure they will run it a few more times as well. The full title of the movies is “The Real MVP: The Wanda Durant Story” and it centers on her and how she handled things as a mother and grown woman in general.

“The primary thing that I really wanted to show is life’s ups and downs. Never quitting and always believing that you will succeed for you and your children, that’s the message I want to come across more than anything,” Ms. Durant stated.

According to Deadline, the movie will tell the true story of a woman who struggled and sacrificed to raise her two sons, Kevin and Tony. Wanda is played by Cassandra Freeman while Kevin is portrayed by Daniel Bellomy.

This is one of the few times in my life that I will actually look forward to something on the Lifetime network.
