Man another Chicago tragedy. Rapper Cdai (real name Courtney Early), was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Monday May 9, for the role he played in the murder of 17 year-old Javan Boyd back in February 2014.
Cdai and fellow rapper RondoNumbaNine were convicted earlier this year of first-degree murder in the Boyd murder case. RondoNumbaNine (real name Clint Massey), will be receiving his sentence in a couple weeks.
Javan Boyd was murdered on Feb. 22, 2014 when the two gunmen approached his car while he was waiting for a passenger. Prosecutors said Cdai & RNN asked Boyd if he was from the neighborhood before firing multiple shots into the vehicle. The two were looking to retaliate from an earlier shooting in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood. Boyd was pronounced dead two hours after being taken to the hospital.
The whole incident was captured on surveillance cameras and Cdai also left a fingerprint on Javan Boyd’s car along with dropping his cellphone as he fled the scene.
Rest in peace to the lives and futures lost in this ordeal.
