It seems like police brutality has been escalating over the last few years, and mostly involving black youth. Hit the jump for this frustrating and disturbing video of a police officer assaulting a teenage girl for riding her bike.
In the video, Monique Coleman was 15 years old at the time. She was riding her bicycle through the Tacoma Mall Plaza and was tailed down by Officer Jared Williams. The officer explained to her that she couldn’t trespass mall property, and assaulted the teen after she tried to explain. Currently her family is suing the Tacoma Police Department over the assault, where Monique was beaten, choked and shocked with a taser.
