The official 911 call that mom made to the Cincinatti Zoo, following her son falling into the gorilla pit has officially been released.

The phone call started:

Hi, my son fell in the zoo exhibit at the gorillas. The Cincinnati Zoo, my son fell in with the gorilla. There’s a male gorilla standing over him. I need someone to contact the zoo, please.

While on the call with the dispatcher, Michelle Gregg (mom), is also heard telling her son who fell in the gorilla enclosure to “Be calm, be calm!”

“He’s dragging my son. I can’t watch this,” Gregg worries.

Additional zoogoers made 911 call’s that day and said:

“There’s a baby in the zoo at gorilla moat. Hurry, hurry, the gorillas are out. Oh, my God.”

“Hi, we’re at the Cincinnati Zoo a baby fell in the gorilla cage and everyone is screaming.”

The 4 year old boy was eventually rescued after suffering a concussion and minor injuries. Harambe the silverback gorilla was shot dead by Cincinnati Zoo staff, to which they stand by their decision.

The family issued a message concerning their son’s recovery:

“Our child has had a checkup by his doctor and is still doing well. We continue to praise God for his grace and mercy and to be thankful to the Cincinnati Zoo for their actions taken to protect our child. We are also very appreciative for the expressions of concern and support that have been sent to us. Some have offered money to the family, which we do not want and will not accept.”
