Pitchfork takes it’s stab at the 50 best mixtapes since the year 2000. A decent list in my opinion with a questionable top 10, but I do agree with Lil Wayne’s spot. Man if they didn’t give that to him…

Mixtape talk has been at the head of hip-hop conversation now that they’ll be eligible for future Grammy’s. Pitchfork, who gives its definition of mixtape as “a free release, offered directly to rap fans”, gives it’s list on passed tapes that could have won Gold in the eyes of the Recording Academy, if the new stipulation was applicable. From least to greatest, here are the top 50 mixtapes of the millenium:
