Damian Lillard is already loved and revered in Portland and after this story the love will be even stronger. Lillard has a basketball camp each summer and Erica Cassidy’s son went last year. She wanted him to go this summer as well but money was tight at the time of enrollment and by the time she came up with the money, the camp was full. Erica decided to give it a shot and send Lillard a DM on Instagram, asking if there was any way possible her son could be fit into the camp. To her surprise not only did Lillard make a spot for her son, he covered the cost as well.

Lillard responded to her DM, simply asking for her contact info. Shortly after she received an email from Lillard’s rep saying “I talked to Damian and he said he wants Kiefer at camp this year. Which session do you want to attend?” She felt happy as can be, knowing her message got her son a spot at the camp but she ever expected anything for free. When she followed up to that email asking how can she send payment, the response she got was simply “Damian paid for it.”
The cost of the camp is $325 which might not be much for some families but could be a lot for others. Makes the cost of Steph Curry’s camp at a rate of $2,000 per child look even more ridiculous.
