Charles Kinsey was an unarmed black man shot and killed by police in North Miami. Moments before the shooting, footage was taken from a cell phone camera. We can see Kinsey laying on the ground with his arms up next to another man. In a video we can hear Kinsey say he is a “behavior therapist at a group home” and that the person next to him is autistic.

Kinsey said,

“When I went to the ground, I went to the ground with my hands up. I am laying there just like this. Telling them again there is no need for firearms. He is autistic. He has a toy truck in his hand.”

In the video we hear Kinsey telling the patient, who’s name is ‘Rinaldo’ to lay down on his stomach. Kinsey says at that point, he was more so worried about his patient more than himself.

“I was thinking as long as I have my hands up…they’re not going to shoot me. This is what I’m thinking, they’re not going to shoot me. Wow, was I wrong.

Kinsey says he was extremely shocked when police shot the him. When he asked them why, the response was, “I don’t know,”

This is so sad.
