14-year-old Jerika Bolen suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, or SMA. The disease causes constant pain and prevents her from using most of her muscles, except some in her face and hands.
“When pain is too much, it’s too much. I need to do what’s best for me. It was a really hard decision to make.”
But Jerika does get a W out of all of this though. Her mother says no one with this disease has survived as long as Jerika has and she’s a true warrior!
