It has been extremely hot these past few days and these high temperatures are expected until next week throughout the country. According to several reports the heat wave is believed to be responsible for several deaths, including a 12-year-old boy in Arizona.

Phoenix,AZ reportedly reached 100F by 10am on Friday and just after 5:30pm the temperature hit 112F. According to police the boy was hiking in the Sonoran Desert Preserve on Friday afternoon with an adult male. The boy became ill, collapsed and was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. The boy was later pronounced dead.

At the time of the incident, both the man and the boy, who has been identified as Cody Flom, were carrying at least two liters of water.
