It’s been over a month since Philando Castile passed away. His former high school, St. Paul Central High School, has now started a scholarship in his name. The scholarship will cater to underprivileged students who are looking to have a career in education or child development.

Before his passing, Castile was a nutritionist for the St. Paul public schools. The families that Castile worked with were beyond shocked by his death. Karla Basta, the event organizer, and also a former classmate of Castile, released a statement saying,

“We all had a lot of rage and anger and grief, and we decided to channel that. Central is a really loyal school, and this was all done by Central alumni.”

So far they have raised $25,000, which will be added to the $10,000 that was raised prior to the fundraiser.
