The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that Iman Shumpert was arrested for suspicion of DUI back in August. Rather than alcohol being involved, it sounds like Shump was high from smoking and reportedly “reeked of marijuana” after he was pulled over for a lane violation on August 10th. He was taken into custody that night but refused to go to a hospital for a blood test because he would be recognized and it would cause a scene.

Police say Shumpert admitted he had been smoking and they also found a mason jar with more weed in the Audi he was driving. Besides being arrested for the weed and DUI, he was also cited for failure to stay in his own lane.
The Cavs issued a statement saying they have discussed the situation with Iman and “will monitor the progression of the pending case.”
“A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.”
This of course is only news because of the illegal aspect of weed, along with it being prohibited in the NBA. It’s not like he committed some major crime. We’ll provide more details if and when they become available.
