If you heard rumors that a Marvin Gaye Biopic was in the works, you can get those out of your head right now. The son of Marvin Gaye, Marvin Gaye III is prepared to shut down that whole operation.
Gaye III is prepared to fight in court to get the biopic of his father shut down. The reasoning? He said it was pure trash. The film is being produced by music mogul Vassal Benford and Gaye III said the family isn’t backing him at all.
Gaye III said when he seen the film, there were many holes, it was exploitative, and didn’t “hold the vibe” of his father. The family has already contacted their attorney, the same one that fought the “Blurred Lines” case.
It doesn’t seem like Vassal is worried at all. He says the movie is full steam ahead and even bought himself a ring as a gift for doing the movie. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
