There is nothing funny about being a deadbeat father but I have to admit, the lengths that Enner Valencia went to, just to avoid arrest for back child support is pretty humorous. Valencia plays professionally in England for Everton but he recently returned to his native Ecuador to play in a 2018 World Cup qualifying game against Chile. While at practice this week, police, as well as a lawyer for the child’s mother showed up to try and have him arrested for the $17,000 he allegedly owes in back child support. Some of the cops there decided not to arrest him but that was far from the end of this story.

Valencia was allowed to leave but later that same day, his team bus was stopped as it tried to enter the stadium for the game by police. Without much explanation, they again did not arrest him and allowed the Ecuadorian team in with no further incident.

Here’s where it becomes comical. With the game almost over and Ecuador winning 3-0, Valenica laid down on the field with an alleged “altitude sickness”. However, the reported truth was he went down with hopes of being carried off by medical staff into an ambulance because once again, police had lined up near the field to arrest him soon as it ended. In this video, you can even see some police officers running after the golf cart that took him off the field.

Amazingly, he once again was not arrested but he wound up getting even better news. The judge rescinded the arrest warrant that was out for him so now Valencia doesn’t have to fake or hide. Still doesn’t change the fact he is a deadbeat.
