Could you imagine a backcourt of Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose before his injuries when he was still in his prime? What if you then put Lebron James at the small forward spot. Would anyone have beaten them? We will never know but according to Wade, the Chicago Bulls were the preferred landing spot for himself and Lebron during the free agency summer of 2010. He claims they only wound up with the Heat when they showed last minute that Bosh could be added as well.

In order for the plan to have worked, the Bulls would’ve had to trade Luol Deng to make room for Lebron, which they surely would’ve done I’m sure but it became a timing thing. According to Wade, Chicago was the top priority before the Heat made cap room for Bosh as well. At that point it became a better fit from a basketball standpoint to go with the Heat.

Wade does admit however that if Deng was traded sooner “it would’ve been a different story”, as per Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago.

Referring to Chicago, Wade said “my eyes were here, LeBron’s eyes were here. Miami put a monkey wrench in the plan when they could fit all 3 of us.”

That Bulls team would have been so scary with Wade, Bron and Derrick Rose all in their athletic prime. Not too mention you also would have had a guy like Joakim Noah to help protect the paint and protect his guys.

Seeing how the big 3 era in Miami resulted in four finals appearances and two championships, I don’t think anyone regrets that they all ended up there.
