By this point, it’s easy to forget that Sean Kingston getting jumped and robbed at L.A. club Playhouse back in June is the reason behind this entire Meek Mill x Beanie Sigel x The Game x everyone else beef that has since spiraled out of control. Despite Kingston getting low and staying out of headlines since all of this crazy drama popped off, his lawsuit against Playhouse remains…but they’re trying to wipe their hands of it.

Kingston filed a $900k lawsuit against the club months back, accusing them of negligent security, whose delay to stop the robbers is what he says is the reason it all happened like it did. According to his suit, his friends tried to stop the assault and robbery, but security instead pulled his friends away, instead of the robbers – thus leaving him wide open to the attack.

In a newly-filed response, the club’s owners, SK WS Enterprises, say they are not at fault in any way, and Kingston’s “reckless” behavior and “failure to exercise reasonable caution” are the only reasons anything happened. They say their employees acted in good faith, and that the suit should be thrown out because of the statue of limitations and because any force that the club security used against the “Beautiful Girls” singer was in self defense.

The case will head to trial in 2017.
