Abilene Christian University, has now expelled two students for posting a black face Snapchat video. The video went viral as it somehow landed on Twitter. In the video, we can see two students wearing a black skin mask, with red lipstick. The caption on their snap read, “this is why black lives matter exists.” The girl in the video is saying “I’m a strong black woman.” The person taking the video can be heard laughing.

Many students at the University were pretty upset. ACU president Phil Schubert spoke on the matter briefly and let us know the young women in the video are no longer students of the school.

…I cannot emphasize strongly enough that this kind of hurtful behavior has no place on our campus or on behalf of ACU. Whether on social media or in person, we must hold ourselves to high standards of accountability for what we publish or say.

This has offended me and I am deeply sorry for how it has offended others, and left an inaccurate representation of who we are and what we believe as a Christian university. We must and can do better as we work together to build an inclusive, diverse campus community in which each person is respected and loved.

The two students were indeed expelled.
