Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting this year’s Oscars and he reveals how much you get paid to do that. Any guesses?

While somebody who is not in the film industry would probably assume you would get a crazy high number probably something in the 6-7 figures, truth is to host the Academy Awards you get a minimal (to huge stars) $15,000.

During a Wednesday interview on KROQ’s “Kevin & Bean” morning show, Kimmel revealed the number most people would cherish this holiday season:

“I think it’s illegal to pay nothing. I’m not sure I was supposed to reveal this. But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault.”

“The producers and the Academy went through a long list of names, and in the end, they decided that—since I am already right across the street from where they do the show—I was the closest person to host,” the comedian joked

Kimmel makes a cool $10 million a year by hosting his late night show and is happy to be receiving anything at all, considering the publicity and screen time of hosting the most prestigious award show for film.

The 89th Academy Awards will broadcast live Feb. 26 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
