Twitter is not here for D.L. Hughley and his jokes. Yesterday Debbie Reynolds passed away just a day after her daughter Carrie fisher. Hughley took to Twitter to make a joke out of the death and no one really deemed it to be funny.
Hughley tweeted,
Debbie Reynolds died a day after her daughter did! Black Mama’s don’t die cuz they kids do!They cry and say God don’t make no mistakes!
This truly wasn’t funny and I’m not really sure where Hughley thought the joke was but Twitter was not here for it. One person tweeted,
@RealDLHughley I don’t know if this is more offensive to the Reynolds/Fisher family, black women,or moms in general. And wasn’t even funny??
Another person tweeted,
somehow you have managed to trivialize the death of two beloved phenoms and the pain of black mothers who lost their kids.
Death is definitley something we should not glamorize or make jokes about. Not sure where Hughley was going with this one. We are still keeping Carrie Fishers family in our prayers.
