Unless you been under a rock the past few days, you know all about the drama unfolding in Chicago with the Bulls. Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler set things off in a negative way when they attacked teammates after a loss on Wednesday. That was followed up by Rajon Rondo straight ethering both Wade & Butler in an Instagram post. Yesterday things seemed to cool down as the team all met together and aired out their grievances and players spoke with the media, making it clear they all respect each other and they just have to move forward. According to reports however, Rondo almost didn’t get the chance to move forward.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Bulls management had a very serious discussion about buying Rondo out and releasing him shortly after his Instagram post went viral. They would’ve had to pay him $14 million for this season, plus another $3 million for next season if they did in fact cut him. Apparently that proved to be too much of a ticket just to send someone on their way.

Rondo is playing terrible this season and has never fit with the Bulls. His averages 6.4 points and 6.5 assists per game are not what Chicago brought him to town for. Perhaps they believe he could be on benefit in the playoffs with his experience and play making but it remains to be seen if the team will even be good enough at the end of the season to make the playoffs.

Regardless, for now at least, it seems things are cool in the Windy City and all they need if some wins to get all of this behind them.
