Billboard’s Top 10 Album Sales, Week Ending 10.1.12 … Mumford & Sons Nab The Biggest Debut Of 2012!

Mumford & Sons released their sophomore album Babel last week, and the sales are the craziest we’ve seen in quite some time! In just 7 days, the group have already achieved gold status, moving 600k units of the project! Whoa! The album is also the largest sales week for RED Distribution ever, the second-biggest frame for an independently-distributed album and with 420k downloads sold, the second-largest week for a digital album. Digital music is the wave. It worked out great for Jay and Ye releasing only digital at first to prevent early leaks. I like to actually hold a cd even though I dont use them but it appears digital is the preference with the ratio compared to physical sales. Rihanna Named Best Selling Digital Artist Ever!

Rihanna has been named the best selling digital artist, ever! According to Nielsen Scans, Rihanna has sold 47.5 million digital downloads since her first single,”Pon De Replay,” hit the charts back in 2005. RiRi’s latest banger,”We Found Love,” was downloaded enough times to leave her comfortable at #1. Congratulations to Rihanna! This is definitely a huge accomplishment!! “The Humpty Dance” is a 1989 hip hop song by Digital Underground, which was featured on their debut album Sex Packets. The single climbed all the way to #11 on the pop charts, #7 on the R&B charts, and #1 on the Billboard Rap Singles chart. The single is sung byShock G’s alter ego, “Humpty Hump”, marking the character’s first musical appearance. The song features a hypnotically-pulsating bassline and a particularly potent drumtrack that has been sampled by many different artists and producers. In the song’s video, a young Tupac Shakur is visible in the background.
