Legalization of marijuana has been a major debate in the country as more states are legalizing medical marijuana, and some going even further as to legalize recreational use.  Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr admitted to using marijuana to deal with chronic back pain, and it has opened the conversation to the positive effect it could have on players.  While on ESPN’s NBA Countdown this past Friday, Chauncey Billups said he wanted some of his former teammates to play while high on marijuana because it actually “helped them focus in on the gameplan.”

NBA: Steve Kerr Is Not Shy About Admitting He Smoked Marijuana To Help With Back Problems

The word “marijuana” in professional sports is so taboo that most people don’t want to even speak on it publicly. While there have been more players lately to speak out about it and the positive effects it can have on healing the body, it’s still treated like a serious drug by all pro leagues and even folks who know it’s not a big deal are hesitant to talk about it. Thankfully, Steve Kerr is not one of those people as he admitted using it recently and seems to be an advocate for its use.

(Video) Pusha T Makes A PSA To Legalize Marijuana

Pusha T is urging California voters to go for Prop 64 (to legalize weed.) “If California’s Prop 64 passes, no one will ever be incarcerated for marijuana again,” Push says in a new PSA. “Marijuana arrests are the engine that’s driving the war on drugs. It’s one of the number one reasons people trying to reenter their communities are sent back to prison. I’m not a California voter, but I know when good legislation passes in the biggest star, other states follow. And that’s an important step in ending mass incarceration around the country. What’s most important to me is keeping people who are coming home, home. If ending prohibition on marijuana reduces recidivism, then let’s do it.” Check out the full video below. Legalize it!

Oakland Is Going To Start Giving Reparations To Their Residents Who Have Marijuana Convictions

Weed is legal in Oakland now, but it wasn’t always, and there are many residents who have charges due to the popular (and harmless) drug. Back in May, Oakland City Council began plans to help boost their legal medical cannabis industry, which is projected to grow into a $40 billion industry in the U.S. by 2020. One of the proposals was that people who have been locked up for a weed-related charge – who are currently ineligible to have a legal license to sell weed because of their felonies – would not only be eligible, but moved to the TOP of the eligibility list as well. AKA, they’d be made a priority to approve first, as reparations for their previous charges.

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that Iman Shumpert was arrested for suspicion of DUI back in August. Rather than alcohol being involved, it sounds like Shump was high from smoking and reportedly “reeked of marijuana” after he was pulled over for a lane violation on August 10th. He was taken into custody that night but refused to go to a hospital for a blood test because he would be recognized and it would cause a scene.
