I really don’t like covering this story because I can’t stand people that are judgemental. I just don’t understand why people care so much about someone’s sexual orientation??? Earlier this month we shared the story that 4 current NFL players are thinking about revealing that they are gay. While it would be great for the gay community, it could cause problems for those individuals because of close minded fans. MTO got their hands on a few photos of a popular NFL player that is currently a free agent. He was on a vacation with a male friend and they seemed pretty close. We don’t know all the details. It could just be his friend or relative OR they could have been joking around – but the pics are being used as “proof”. For the record, MTO did not say he is gay, they insinuated it. I like this guy and if he is one of the four, I feel bad that he couldn’t come out & reveal the info on his own terms…AND if he’s not gay, now he has to do rumor control. No win situation. Welts said in the story Sunday that he wants to break down one of the last significant social barriers in sports, one that has made headlines recently after Kobe Bryant’s use of a gay slur on the basketball court and hockey player Sean Avery’s support of same-sex marriage.
