XXL Releases Their First Round of 2017 Freshman Potentials

It’s that time of year again! XXL will soon be releasing their annual Freshman list. Each year, 10 of the hottest upcoming acts make the cut – 9 of which are hand-picked by the XXL staff, the tenth being voted in by fans. XXL releases all of their options on a voting site, allowing fans to vote every four hours for their favorite(s). Be smart about your votes, though! The artists on this list include the ones XXL has already chosen, but of course they don’t want to let you know which ones they are and ruin the surprise! My advice is to vote for your favorite acts that are lesser known on the list, as the more popular ones are likely to have already made the cut.

According to Houston publication KHOU, Ebony lost her battle just four days later. Below is a photo of a beautiful vigil they put together for her. Rest in peace, beautiful.

Guess Which Famous Rapper Nicki Minaj Turned Down For 2010 Single “Right Thru Me”

“Right Thru Me” was one of the singles off of Nicki Minaj’s debut album, Pink Friday, in 2010. The song doesn’t have any features, as Nicki sings about a relationship with someone who seemingly knows her better than she knows herself. In a Twitter Q&A over the weekend, Nicki revealed that the song almost had a big-name feature, but she ultimately turned them down because the song was just too personal for her. Instead, she gave this person a spot on another song on the album, “Blazin.” Guess who it is yet? Kanye West!

Machine Gun Kelly is gearing up for his third studio album, led by the number one single “Bad Things” with Camila Cabello, and its new follow-up, “At My Best.” One cut on the album will feature Ty Dolla $ign and Quavo, and MGK previewed the song during a performance in Las Vegas on Sunday. K also told the crowd that the album will be arriving “within a month or so.” No word on the title of the album or even the song with Ty and Quavo, but we’ll clearly know soon enough! Check out a couple clips I recorded below. Pardon my excitement in each of them, LOL. (When three of my faves team up on one track, it’s a moment!!!!)
