(Spy Photo) Volkswagen Golf GTI Test Mule

Volkswagen has apparently commenced road tests for the company’s next-generation Golf GTI and Golf R. Our legion of crafty spy photographers managed to nab a few photos of a pair of test mules spotted out and about in public. From the looks of things, the upcoming Golf GTI will rely on a set of dual-exhaust pipes in the future while the more menacing Golf R will go for quad pipes. @funkmasterflex

Kia hit with $40M judgment in faulty seatbelt death case

Alabama teen Tiffany Stabler got a 1999 Kia Sephia for her sixteenth birthday in 2004. After her father purchased the car, he took it to a Kia dealership to have all of the maintenance and recall work completed. In 2002, Kia had recalled seatbelt buckles on 1995-1998 Sephias and Sportages for a condition called “false latching,” wherein a belt appears to be locked into the buckle but actually isn’t. Stabler’s car wasn’t part of the recall, even though the 1999 and 2000 Sephias used the same buckle as the 1995-1998 models. @funkmasterflex

Chevy developing two-door Cruze

Thus far, the Cruze has been a big success for Chevrolet. Although you could chalk up part of its meteoric rise to a lack of supply from Japan, the Cruze was the best-selling compact in America last month. 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Edition ready to hit the street

The next installment in the Transformers franchise is set to hit theaters on Tuesday, June 28. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon will continue the trend of providing a massive stage on which to showcase General Motors vehicles. One of those vehicles in the Michael Bay explosion-fest is a yellow Chevrolet Camaro that goes by the name Bumblebee, and the banana-and-black Autobot is set to spawn a special edition automobile that fans can put in their driveway. @funkmasterflex
