Ex College Football Star in a Horrific Crash!!

We are happy to say that former University of Hawaii football star, Colt Brennan, has been upgraded to stable condition this morning after being in a serious car accident yesterday. Brennan was the passenger in a vehicle which was driven by his girlfriend when it collided head-on with another vehicle. TMZ posted exclusive photos that were taken just moments after the crash, before paramedics arrived on scene. Brennan was still inside the vehicle at the time. The ex-football star suffered broken ribs, a broken left collarbone, and head injuries. His girlfriend reportedly suffered a broken collarbone, while the driver of the other vehicle suffered leg injuries.

Although, Brennan finished third in Heisman voting in 2007 and holds numerous NCAA records, he never quite made it in the NFL and was cut from the Oakland Raiders back in September.

Authorities say they’ve arrested the man suspected of shooting three University of Southern Mississippi football players during a fight outside a nightclub.

ESPN reports that Hattiesburg Police Sgt. Allen Murray said Travis Brown of Purvis was arrested Friday night in Hattiesburg and will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault. Murray didn’t know if the 29-year-old Brown had an attorney. Two others were charged earlier this week with accessory after the fact of aggravated assault.

Players Martez Smith, Tim Green and Deddrick Jones were shot last weekend after a night of celebrating their win over 25th-ranked Central Florida. The three players remained hospitalized Friday afternoon in fair condition. The shooting left Smith paralyzed from the waist down.

Cam Newton Controversy Getting Worse!!

The FBI investigation into the cash for Cam Newton scandal now involves a guy who gave more than $1 million to Auburn University and was recently arrested in a bribery sting. According to sources connected to the probe, TMZ reports FBI agents looking into the Newton recruiting controversy are also asking about Milton McGregor, a dog track owner arrested last month for allegedly bribing Alabama politicians to vote pro gambling. It’s unclear what, if any, direct connection McGregor has to Newton. Back in 2008, McGregor did donate a million bucks toward construction of a new arena at Auburn. McGregor’s attorney claims his client has “never had any contact – direct or indirect – with Cam Newton, Cecil Newton, Cam’s father; Kenny Rogers or anyone purporting to represent Cam Newton.” He also says McGregor has never compensated student athletes at Auburn or any other school.

Somebody needs to speak up because the more and more they investigate, Cam’s chances for the Heisman slowly diminish!!

Both Teams to Use Same Endzone Saturday at Wrigley Field!!

Only one end zone will be used for offense in the Illinois vs. Northwestern game this Saturday at Wrigley Field because of safety concerns about the right field brick wall, despite the installed padding. Yet another college football game to be played at a historic baseball stadium and this will be the first college football game at Wrigley since 1938! Not sure how two teams using the same endzone is going to ultimately work out, but watch ESPN’s report about the issue after the jump…

Yankee Stadium Set for Football!!

The New York Yankees tweeted this picture earlier this week of what their stadium looks like for football! Crazy right? University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face the Army Black Knights at the new Yankee Stadium on Saturday, renewing what was once a fiercely contested annual matchup. Both schools have tremendous histories in college football, much of which overlapped. Moreover, the original Yankee Stadium was, more often than not, the battleground, adding a spectacular backdrop to what was usually a high-stakes showdown. The Fighting Irish will enter the game with a 5-5 Record and the Black Knights will enter with a 6-4 record…this should be an interesting game to watch guys!!
