Drake Donates Money To Build A Recording Studio In Philadelphia High School

Despite all of the drama currently going on, it looks like Drake isn’t letting it get in the way of his philanthropy. The Toronto native donated $75K to help build a recording studio in Strawberry Mansion High School located in Philadelphia. Principal Linda Cliatt-Wayman explained how they have been struggling with budgeting issues and a bad reputation of having high amounts of violence in the school, so it was difficult to get the proper funding for the studio they wanted to put in.

SO Dope! J. Cole Makes Good On His 2013 Promise & Attends Fan’s Graduation

Back in 2013, a high school student who goes by the Twitter handle @princess_simba wrote J. Cole a letter, and it touched the North Carolina rapper so much, he reached out to her via DM. “i read your letter twice now,” Cole wrote to her in July of 2013. “you are so strong, i admire YOU. i will be at your graduation… only IF you get into a 4 year University. go!” A little under a year later, the fan checked in with Cole and gave him an update on her grades, and they were up to par. She’s clearly kept them up since and made good on her promise to get into a 4-year college, as Cole was front and center during her high school graduation this week!


Kanye West Donates 6 Figures To ‘Donda’s House’ – His Late Mother’s Foundation For Aspiring Chicago Artists

Kanye West has broken a donation record at his late mother’s foundation Donda’s House, donating a whopping $133,000 to support the young and aspiring artists in their hometown of Chicago. Complex reports that a portion of Ye’s Donda’s House donation came from the money he earned by performing multiple shows for the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris recently, while the rest was out of pocket. There are currently 160 artists who are supported by the foundation, and Yeezy’s generous donation will no doubt benefit them greatly! “Kanye’s generosity is greatly appreciated and will improve our capacity with new staff as we deliver the high-quality arts programming that our participants deserve,” the charity’s Executive Director Donnie Smith said in a statement. So dope of Ye!


Awesome! Kelly Rowland Helps Raise Over $800,000 With Mother’s Day Concert

Kelly Rowland was the featured performer this past Mother’s Day weekend at the Magpie Nest Housing Project in Melbourne, Australia. The special concert was put together by the charity-based organization, and ended up raising a whopping $800,000 for them, which will go toward homeless families, helping to place all the necessary supports around a resident to increase the possibility of them addressing their issues and moving forward with their lives. “I was delighted to support a program that provides housing for the people of Melbourne without homes,” Kelly said of the effort. It’s always nice to hear things like this!


Drake Set To Host Second Annual ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

For the second year in a row, October’s own Drake is set to host yet another “Houston Appreciation Weekend” (HAW) in the city closest to his heart after Toronto. Drizzy will be taking his talents down south to Texas this Memorial Day Weekend to kick off the weekend of fun in H-Town. HAW paves the way for Drake to raise both money and awareness for a variety of different charities based in the Greater Houston area.
