He posted a video of his super nice gesture on Instagram with a caption that reads, “Outside the mall in the ATL & ran into a lil boy on his 7th birthday…. Gave em’ $700.. The Baltimore chapter of ‘Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’ has received a staggering 3,000 percent increase in mentor applicants in just a few days! This surge, the organization said, is the biggest in their entire history! “To have people reach out and say, ‘I want to make a commitment for the next year of my life spending every week with a young man or woman,’ is blowing my mind actually,” President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake, Terry Hickey, told NBC News.

The North Carolina A&T State University alum was joined by NBC Universal execs on April 24, a date now declared by the school’s department of journalism and mass communication to be “Terrence J Day.” Campus events included a mentor’s breakfast and “Let’s Talk,” a networking session featuring Terrence and moderated by N.C. A&T State alum and Vice President of News at NBC10 Philadelphia, Anzio Williams.
