U.S. could be drawn into a conflict between Japan and China over disputed islands in the East China Sea. Tensions have increased between the two Asian powers. The United States’ top diplomat said this week that the US will not walk away from Japan as tensions worsen in the Far East.
Voluntary Labeling Of GMO Foods
The Coalition for Safe Affordable Food say they plan for a national standard that would allow manufacturers to voluntarily label food and beverage products made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The Center for Food Safety says over 30 states are expected to introduce GMO labeling laws during the 2014 legislative session.
Whats The Deal With Employment?
The unemployment rate is the number of people without jobs in the labor force. The unemployment rate went down in January to 6.6 percent, the lowest level since October 2008, from 6.7 percent in December. The government said on Friday that employers added 113,000 jobs in January.
ObamaCare Means Less Jobs?
The long-term effect of ObamaCare on the U.S. economy has raised more questions. Almost 2.5 million workers could opt out(Workers Choice) of full-time jobs over the next 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office says jobs may disappear because employers may hire less full-time workers or reduce the hours of their staff due to Obamacare. Americans working full-time jobs may decide to work part-time or not work at all.
