(Video) Andre 3000 & Kanye West Speak At Phife Dawg’s Tribute

Last night, a tribute was held at the legendary Apollo Theater in honor of A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg, who we lost last week at the age of 45. SO many powerful people came out to pay tribute to his legacy, including Andre 3000 – who revealed that once upon a time, there were talks of a joint ATCQ x Outkast album. IMAGINE THE GEMS?! “About a year or two ago maybe, we were talking about doing a Tribe Called Quest and OutKast album,” 3 Stacks said, explaining that “personal issues” then got in the way. “Please people, don’t let the time go by. That’s one of the biggest things that I regret now. For whatever reason we didn’t do it, it was on our plate and we just… let it go.” Kanye West also spoke, jokingly noting, “Anything I ever did wrong, blame Tip and Phife ‘cause ya’ll raised me.” Also in attendance were Busta Rhymes, KRS-One, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Lauryn Hill and more. Just truly goes to show Phife’s influence on the world, huh? What a beautiful thing. Rest in beats!
