Let me catch you up to speed if you’re not already. Late last week, blogger/writer B. Dot (who we’ve featured on Social Media Mondays) took to his Twitter to vent frustrations about New York radio. He feels they’re not showing enough underground/unsigned love. Hot 97 head honcho (aka PD) Ebro Darden responded with a debate on the topic. The next morning, he took to Hot 97 morning show airwaves with Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds and Kay Foxx and discussed it further. He feels that the underground guys need to earn their stripes before they’re featured, and also notes that Rosenberg has a Sunday night show dedicated totally to unsigned music. Once B. (Video) “Lone Ranger” Trailer With Johnny Depp
Mr. Edward Scissor-Hands himself is at it again. Even though Depp’s NOT the main character, his character still seems to be be a big part in the movie. The trailer starts out with a hero (the lone ranger), bloodied, beat up on top of a wooden tower, built on top of a BIG cliff. He doesn’t know where he’s at or how he got there. I would have been scared out of my mind. lol. Then comes Mr. Depp, talking to a horse. (This guy). It reminds me of Zorro, if you’re into that kind of thing. Drop down bottom to take a look. (Video) Big Boi Brings Out A$AP Rocky At SOB’s Concert In NYC
Last night, resident ATLien Big Boi kicked off the release of his second solo project Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors with a show at New York City’s S.O.B.’s. Hot 97’s own Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds hosted the event, while DJ Juanyto helped man the turntables. High energy and a funkafied hip-hop vibe were heavy in the building as the Outkast rapper and his live band ran through past hits such as “Rosa Parks” and “Ms. Jackson,” and performed tracks off of the new album. Big Boi treated fans with a live painting of the cover to his new album Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors, done by artist Misha Tyutyunik, and a surprise visit from Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, who joined Big Boi on stage to perform their collaboration “Lines” with indie group Phantogram.
