The Cincinnati Bengals are ready to move on without Carson Palmer. Not surprisingly, ESPN reports — via Adam Schefter on Twitter — that in their hunt for a replacement starting quarterback, team officials have interest in Philadelphia Eagles backup Kevin Kolb. When a barrel of oil soars past $100, it affects all of us in more ways than just the gas pump. That counts for auto production as well, as Toyota’s recent price increase clearly shows. And Toyota isn’t alone, as Automotive News reports that Ford has raised prices on its vehicles by an average of .4 percent across its lineup. That adds up to about $117, which won’t break the bank, but at the same won’t make any of consumers’ weary wallets any happier, either.

Nissan has hinted in the past that it plans to show a new small car at this year’s New York Auto Show, and the folks at Inside Line now say that new vehicle will be the 2012 Versa. The next Versa will reportedly be based off of a new global B platform that already underpins the Nissan Sunny (pictured, right) and the Micra. The updated Versa will reportedly shrink a bit compared to the current model, and it will continue to slot below the Sentra in terms of price.

Devon Butler, a junior Northern Illinois University linebacker, was critically wounded Tuesday when shots were fired from a car at an apartment in DeKalb.

Authorities said the apartment was targeted because of a drug deal but emphasized that there was no indication that Butler was involved in the transaction or even knew about it. Two people have been arrested. Read more…

Cars 2 to hit theaters June 24th, even if the extensive marketing efforts leading up to the premiere are a bit over the top. Over the weekend at WonderCon, movie promoters gave some very interested fans a sneak peak at what it’s like to be super sleuths, which jives with the movie’s spies theme. The promoters placed three vehicles outside the convention wearing some crazy decals that directed folks to head to the Twitter account @ChromeLeaks. Once on the Twitter page, a link was provided to the Youtube video of a faux used car dealer commercial. The predictably cheesy commercial for “Cars N’ Deals of Emeryville” was purposely terribly done, but the 57-second mark revealed a very brief surprise. It was a link to a special sneak peak for the new Cars 2 movie. Sneaky, huh???
