American troops maybe withdrawn from Iraq, but U.S. officials don’t plan on withdrawing all of them from the area. The Obama administrationÂ plans on increasing the amount of American troops in the Persian Gulf later this year. The repositioning of troops will allow the American military to keep a closer eye out on Iran and Iraq. The repositioning will also keep a combat team in Kuwait in case of a collapse of security in Iraq. American troops could remain in the Gulf until as last as 2014. Read more after the jump.
A 15-year-old teenager was arrested in Tennessee after he pretended to be a police officer. The boy posed as an officer to obtain credit card numbers to host a house party. The generous teen racked up charges of $500 for pizza, $800 for the house party and shelled out $874 to a friend to pay his utility bill. The teen was smart enough to get all of these people’s credit cards but not smart enough to know not to have a house party and order all that pizza to be sent to your house while using stolen money?! A second day of a workers’ strike has forced Air France to cancel more flights. Cabin crews have stopped working due to labor dispute which has forced Air France to cut back on the amount of passengers per flight as well as cutting nine long-haul flights. The airline company is expected to cut 20 percent of around 1,000 from now until Wednesday. Read more after the jump.
Nick Diaz punched BJ Penn straight out of mixed martial arts competition on Saturday. Â Diaz won a unanimous decision against Penn by keeping the fight standing to batter him with punches for the last two rounds of the main event of UFC 137 in Las Vegas. Yesterday New York City was hit with a record-breaking winter storm one person dead leaving millions without power but that didn’t make a break in the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. Demonstrators said on the streets and in Zuccotti Park to continue to fight for what they believe it despite the harsh weather conditions. The weather comes right on the heels of crackdowns and challenges against the movement, but has not slowed it down. Watch what one demonstrator said after the jump.
An off duty police officer in Florida was arrested at gunpoint after leading a Florida state trooper on a high speed chase. Fausto Lopez, a Miami police officer, was spotted driving 120 mph and driving recklessly while on the way to his off duty job as a school security guard. Lopez ignored the state troopers for a few miles before being arrested. Read more and watch part of the chase after the jump.
Taylor Swift has threatened to sue a website known for leaking nude pictures of celebs. Normally celebs sue for leaking the pics, but this time Taylor is suing for trademark infringement. According to the pop singer, the pics have been photo shopped and they aren’t her. Read more after the jump.
