This has been on my mind for a minute(since the deal died), AT&T has to hand over a Billion Dollars worth of Spectrum, and if you don’t know Spectrum is what carriers use to build their Networks, and this was especially curious since AT&T just launched it’s LTE network, but a concerned citizen put together a Map of the bump Tmobile will get, which you can see if it affects you after the Jump!
Before you really check out the Map, let me tell you some ket things, like AT&T launched it’s LTE over 2 types of Spectrum, 1 called AWS(which is the more powerful), and the other known as 700MHz, and they only gave up Spectrum(AWS) where they had enough of the other(700MHz) to fill in with, So they were not stupid about it, which is probably even made the deal to begin with. This deal(in theory) will not affect AT&T’s network what so ever, but then again, it will not help their network either. Tmobile on the other Hand will be able to expand, and in Some areas they will be able to improve to HSPA+, The cities AT&T gave up include Boston; San Francisco/Oakland; Washington, D.C.; Houston; Baltimore; Atlanta; San Diego; Seattle; Kansas City, Mo.; San Jose, Calif.; San Antonio; and Salt Lake City, which I’m sure Tmobile could use a boost in those areas(but that doesn’t help us in NYC), NOW you should check out the Map:
